I absolutely loved Aiden on The X Factor, he had the kind of talent and originality that we rarely see on those kind of shows. However, I’m still undecided about his debut single.
Don’t get me wrong, it is an excellent pop record – it’s catchy, it’ll no doubt sell well, and it’s perfect for the club scene (infact, it will be a welcome change to usual dross). I just think that Aiden has so much more to offer. We barely get to here all the beautiful tones of his voice in this song, they’re hidden amongst all of the over production (we don’t get to see much of his beautiful face in the video either, but that’s another matter). But then, it has been released on Simco Limited (one of Simon Cowell’s labels), so what else should we expect?
I pretty much fell in love with Aiden when he covered This Year’s Love by David Gray in his bootcamp audition (you can watch the video below), his voice just sounds amazing in a simple, stripped back performance. Maybe we’ll see this side of him shine through again in the future.
P.S. Yes, I sometimes watch The X Factor. Don’t judge me.
